The Libyans do not want military intervention by anyone, and most certainly NOT by the U.S.
You know, the country that brought you the Abu Ghraib abuse? The military that comes to "help" and never fucking leaves? Still in Okinawa, Germany, Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc., etc., etc.
Libya has oil.
Oil, massive human rights violations, and the U.S. a really, really bad combination.
Tell me, how does an anti-imperialist U.S. citizen prevent their government from invading yet another country where they are not welcome?
Someone? Anyone?
The USS Enterprise is heading toward Libya as I write. Apparently they were "hunting pirates" off the coast of Somalia, so they just happen to be in the neighborhood. Hunting pirates with an aircraft carrier?
Picture this, will you?

By the way, a "No Fly Zone" IS military intervention. Libya's air defenses would have to be taken out. All of them. All over the whole country. You guys that are crying for a No Fly Zone...Do you realize that you are asking for the country to be bombed? Repeatedly. And if memory serves me, their "smart bombs" aren't all that fucking smart. While these outsiders are enforcing this No Fly Zone, Gaddafi will engage them (he has nothing to lose) and they will retaliate and innocent Libyans will die.
This would not be helpful.
I know it's difficult to watch. They have to do this on their own. We all must provide medical and food aid. It is the right thing to do. Assistance for refugees, our duty as fellow human beings.

Things are not going well
Gaddafi is stark, raving mad and refusing to leave. People are being slaughtered while the UN and world "leaders" condemn, deplore, and express concern. Never mind that nearly every western country has been selling him weapons. Weapons that the Western merchants of death thought he would use for what? Defense against an invasion by Tunisia?
Meanwhile, back at the Egyptian revolution:
As the people's demands have not been met, the revolution returned to Tahrir & the Parliament building. Below are screenshots of 2 tweets from in front of The parliament.

"The People And The Army Are ONE"
I doubt it.
Needless to say, it isn't even close to being over yet. Yalla Egypt!

Sleep? We've Got A Revolution To Support! Tunisia, Egypt, Bahrain, Yemen & Libya.
I haven't had more than about 3 hours of sleep each night since #Jan 25.
Tunisia - You are beautiful. Mohammed Bouazizi, I hope that you can see us from where you are and know what you have set in motion. You will never be forgotten.

Egypt.... I'm speechless. You are so inspiring.
Bahrain & Yemen: Don't give up!
Ah Libya..........
You will be free. This is really, really hard to watch.
One day, I was in a hotel in Damascus, in the elevator. This friendly, smiling, guy in the elevator asked me if I was French. I braced myself, (as I often do), for the consequences of my origin (damn you Bush),
and looking at the floor, said, "No, I'm American." He broke into a HUGE smile. He said, "I am from Libya! We are friends now!" Condi Rice had just been to visit the Colonel and declared him rehabilitated. Amazing what a lot of oil can do for your reputation.
I keep thinking about my incredibly sweet Libyan friend. Is he in Libya now? Is he alright?
I will see you all soon.
